Bill Curry was born in Atlanta, GA on October 21, 1942. He received a football scholarship to Georgia Tech, where he was spotted by Vince Lombardi, and later drafted to the Green Bay Packers in 1964. Curry was part of the team that won the first Super Bowl in 1966. He was traded to the Baltimore Colts in 1967, where he played for Don Shula. With the Colts, Curry played in Super Bowls III and V, and was named to the All-Pro Team in 1971 and 1972. He retired from playing in 1975 after a knee injury, and entered coaching. He served as assistant coach at Georgia Tech, finally making head coach in 1980. He served as head coach there until 1986, when he moved to the University of Alabama. While coaching there, he was named 1990 SEC Coach of the Year, and received the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year award. Also in 1990, he was named University of Kentucky’s head football coach. He is currently a motivational speaker, with multiple engagements throughout the year.
